Superintendent’s Letter regarding Level Orange

Dear CC-V Families,

November 16, 2020

Teller County is currently in LEVEL ORANGE: Safer At Home- HIGH RISK. The restrictions for this level for P-12 schools are: in-person, hybrid, or remote as appropriate. Due to the number of probable cases in the district and an extremely high number of possible exposures, we are transitioning to remote learning beginning Monday, November 16 through Winter Break. We hope to reopen for in-person learning at Cresson and hybrid (2 days on/off) at the Junior/Senior High School on January 6, 2021.

SAFETY MEASURES

All staff and students will continue to be screened upon arrival to school for symptoms and temperature. We will wear masks, maintain our distance, and wash hands frequently. Additional cleaning and disinfecting of frequently touched surface and district buildings will occur throughout the school day and at night. Staff and students should stay home if they have symptoms or a temperature of 100.4 or higher or have been in contact with someone who has tested positive.

TRANSPORTATION

We will continue to offer transportation for our students in Special Education.

ACADEMICS

At this time, we are transitioning to remote learning for Cresson Elementary and Jr/Sr High School students. Please contact your child’s teacher if you have questions regarding their classes/school work.

ATHLETICS/AFTER SCHOOL ACTIVITIES

We are cancelling all athletics and after school activities until January 6, 2021. Season B sports, (basketball and cheer) are scheduled for the first week of January. CHSAA is waiting on additional requested variance approvals from the governor’s office on or about December 1st. Capacity limits for fans and spectators are still under consideration at this time.

SPECIAL EDUCATION

Students on IEPs are welcome to attend school, in person, all four days a week. If you have concerns about your child attending school in-person, please contact Arika Zittlosen @ azittlosen@ccvschools.com.
