SECONDARY SCHOOL – Go Pioneers

Kyla Kahrs

Principal, CCV Secondary School

I have always wanted to be a teacher. I started college classes my sophomore year of high school. I completed my Bachelor’s in English with Secondary Education and Master’s of Education in Culturally and Linguistically Diverse Education at CSU-Pueblo, and Master’s of Science in Building Administration at Fort Hays State.

I have taught for 15 years in traditional, hybrid, and online schools. I am licensed in elementary education, 5-21 special education generalist, K-12 culturally and linguistically diverse education, and secondary English and social studies.

My administrative experience includes being Head of the English and History departments, Teacher-In-Charge, English Coach, acting as a Dean, and running a site in an under-served area for an alternative school, which I started.

I have lived back in Colorado since November 1999, when my dad retired from the Navy. I am not the typical Coloradoan as I am unlikely to go hiking unless history or ruins are involved. I love visiting National Parks and Historic Landmarks, earning 30 Junior Ranger badges. I have been a member of Daughters of the American Revolution for over 10 years and was chosen as the Colorado State Outstanding Junior in 2018 and 2022.

I am excited to join CCV and further the work in preparing students for life after high school through continued education, trades, or otherwise entering the workforce. I hope to work with students, families, and other community members to provide the best experience and education possible.
