Dan Cummings
Principal, CCV Secondary School
“Growing up in Colorado, I split my time between Colorado Springs and the Florissant area, where I still have family. I have always loved these mountains and I treasure the countryside around us.
More than twenty years ago, encouraged by an inspirational college professor, I started into the field of education immediately after graduating from Colorado State University (’98). With a BA in English, I began my teaching career in an experiential, alternative school setting in Elizabeth, Colorado. Since then, I have taught in parochial, public, international, and independent schools.
Along the way I picked up an MA in English Literature from the Bread Loaf School of English at Middlebury College (’06) and, at different points in my career, I served as Department Chair, Dean of Academics, and Dean of School. I also served as a Director of Upper School (the independent school version of a Principal) for six years in two different cities. I have always maintained a teaching load in combination with my administrative positions as I believe that the true pulse of a school exists in the classroom.
This will be my third year with CC-V and based on the work we have done together already I am very excited about what the future holds. We will continue to support the community, families, and students as all strive to fulfill their potential.”
